No matter what age you were captivated by Pokemon we all know the appeal of a Shiny Charizard Card, right?

So picture having one of the Pokemon launch titles for your Gameboy re-imagined with a Shiny Charizard theme..

Ok, now you’re getting excited. But wait, imagine if someone bought that game up to date with a release of a full-colour version!!

That’s right we’ve done it.. Gameduck and Pocket Pirates proudly present, for our first release..

Pokemon Red – Shiny Charizard Edition

This is the ultimate homage to Nintendo’s original release of Pokemon Red.

Aesthetic:

We wanted this release to hit hard with the nostalgia and bring out your inner child that needs it in your collection. So we trialed a lot of ideas until we were completely in awe at what we created.

Starting with the design of the label, we found a way to apply a holographic effect to the artwork, reminiscent of the 1st edition trading cards.

The artwork itself was again inspired by the Pokemon trading cards and pays tribute to the game’s origins from japan.

Gameplay:

We took an untouched rom file from the original game and patched it.

This is a Colourisation hack of Pokemon Red. It takes full advantage of Gameboy Color hardware. The overworld is fully and properly colorized, and with colorized attack sprites, even battles are more colorful!

In addition to color, Pokemon and Trainer sprites have been imported from Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal.

Compatibility :

In order to make this a full colour release, it will not be compatible with the original Gameboy DMG or Pocket. To play this title you will need to use a Gameboy Color, Advance, or SP.
